• Has more than 37 years of experience in different systems of Martial Arts, is a Black Belt in seven styles and Master in four.
• Has been endowed with the ranks and credentials of his Grandmaster Instructor Sang Ki Eun, Former Director of the International TaeKwon-Do Federation and First to hold a TaeKwon-Do Tournament in America in Rockford, Illinois, USA.
• Former Vice-President for the Christian Martial Arts Association and Choi Kwang Do Martial Arts International.
• First to introduce CKD to Argentina, South America. Appeared on front page cover of Mundo Marcial magazine in 1992.
• Nationally and internationally recognized for successful seminars in different styles of Martial Arts, appeared on front covers of magazines in the United States, Europe, and South America.
• Former National Competitor, 1982 Maryland and 1984 Pennsylvania State Champion in Sparring, Form and weapons in Open Styles Competition.
• In 1981 was presented with Mid-Atlantic Martial Arts Award as #1 in Region 10 in Washington, DC, by Grandmaster Agreela; has achieved over 150 first place trophies under different systems of Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon-Do, Kenpo and Kickboxing.
• Has performed seminars for the Department of the Navy: Master-at-Arms; trained Maryland and Florida members of State Police and other law enforcement.
• Special Guest at the Grandmaster Bill "Superfoot" Wallace "Train With Martial Arts Legends" Seminar.
• Chosen by Johns Hopkins University and Baltimore County schools to teach academic programs and perform Martial Arts Self Defense demonstrations and seminars.
• Developed programs for ROTC at Mount Saint Mary's College which led to the addition of Shim Shin-Do® as an accredited course of instruction at the college.
• Seminar held for Coordinator Community Education and staff of "All Children's Hospital" to cover the benefits of Martial Arts, which children with ADD, ADHD and other handicaps performed.
• Received the Magical Moments Award, for working with handicapped children (usually given to doctors and therapists).
• Chosen by AIC to be a ringside judge at the Battle of Tampa Bay III & IV World Championship.

First Korean in the world K-9-1, 9th Degree Black Belt in Original TaeKwon-Do, President of KATU-ITF; to be the International Regional Director of KATU-ITF since 1998.
• First to introduce Grandmaster K. S. Hwang to Argentina and S.A.
• First active President of the NGB of the unifed I.T.F. in Argentina.
• Recognized and certify by the World Martial Arts Alliance as: 9th Degree Black Belt and Founder of Shim Shin-Do®.
• Grandmaster Barriga is in the Advisory Council of the WMAA along with Grandmaster's Pellegrini and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and many recognized world Grandmasters and past board member of directors in the FLMA.
• Grandmaster Barriga created instructional martial arts and business programs, now used by different Federations, associations and academies world wide.
• Has opened more than 60 professional locations in different systems of M. A. Which has lead many Black Belts to become successful in their martial arts career.
• Grandmaster Sergio G. Barriga, is the youngest Grandmaster in the world to be recognized in the Martial Arts "Hall of Fame" as the founder of the first American Martial Arts in history:
